These plastic-free sugarcane containers come in a rectangular shape and are the perfect sustainable solution for your takeaway food.Sugarcane pulp, known as ‘bagasse’, is a by-product of the sugar refining industry that would otherwise go to waste. At BioPak, we combined plant fibres and reclaimed bagasse that is super sturdy and a great substitute for the ubiquitous plastic takeaway container.
BioCane containers have been very popular among our customers with pre-made meal delivery services as they have a secure lid fit and don’t leak – perfect for transportation.
You can serve hot curry, fried rice, pasta and more in these rectangular containers. Our compartment trays are especially good for street food, helping to divide the components of a meal.
They are freezer-friendly; however, we recommend ensuring the contents are fully defrosted to prevent fibres from being stuck to food. We also recommend conducting your own testing with your food and our containers. Please contact our team for free samples.
With single-use plastic bans coming into legislation across the country, BioPak sugarcane containers are a great plastic-free alternative to switch to. We also offer plant fibre lids that have no added PFAS. Show your customers you care about the environment by switching to BioCane containers today!
Rectangular plastic takeaway containers have been the go-to for years – but their negative environmental impact is now being seen everywhere. From polluted waterways to degraded soil, the legacy of plastic is hard to ignore.
That’s why we’re offering a better way forward. Our Plant Fibre Containers (previously called BioCane Containers) deliver the same reliability and performance as plastic, while reducing your environmental impact. A small change for your business with a big difference.
Our most popular plastic-free sugarcane container is the rectangular shape – the perfect sustainable solution for your takeaway food.
We make Plant Fibre from sugarcane pulp (also called ‘bagasse’) – a by-product of the sugar refining process that would otherwise go to waste. That’s why people often refer to them as ‘sugarcane containers’. At BioPak, we combine this sugarcane pulp with other plant-based pulp to create a super sturdy, affordable solution.
We have white sugarcane containers and natural sugarcane containers depending on your preference.
Choose Natural Plant Fibre Containers for an earthy, natural feel. Choose White Plant Fibre Containers for a sleek, minimalist look.
Our sugarcane containers come in a range of sizes, including 500ml, 650ml, 750ml and 1,000ml. We also have 2-compartment, 3-compartment and 4-compartment trays.
Available with matching plant fibre, RPET or PLA lids.

Plant fibre pulp is incredibly versatile, with the option to work with our industrial designers to create your own moulded solutions. We’ve worked with businesses to create plant fibre oyster trays, produce trays and taco trays. Learn more about our Custom Packaging Solutions.
Our Plant Fibre Containers boast all the benefits of traditional packaging – and more. They are durable, cost-effective, versatile and sturdy. They’re also microwave safe, oven safe, fridge and freezer friendly.
We also offer:
To dispose of our Plant Fibre Containers, the best option is composting.
Our no added PFAS range is Certified Home Compostable to Australian Standards (AS5810). We’re proud to be the first packaging company in the industry to phase out PFAS – a group of synthetic chemicals often added to food packaging to make it grease and water resistant.
However, we are still phasing out a small number of products containing PFAS.
Even if our Plant Fibre Containers don’t end up in a composting facility, they’re still a better choice from the outset. That’s because they’re made from rapidly renewable sugarcane pulp, a natural by-product that’s considered less harmful than conventional plastic.
To promote correct disposal, we launched Compost Connect – a composting platform connecting foodservice businesses to commercial organic waste pick-up services. With 23 compost partners servicing 2,200+ postcodes across Australia and New Zealand, businesses can search their postcode to find out if an organics collection is available in their area.
For our Sugarane Containers, we have a range of different lid options to suit your needs, including:
For the most sustainable solution, we recommend pairing our Plant Fibre Containers with Plant Fibre Lids. While we currently have RPET options available as an affordable option, we’re currently phasing out plastic from our entire range.
