About BellyGood

With over 30 years of experience in the food industry, BellyGood focuses on delivering the finest quality halal catering across a range of events.

Over the years, BellyGood has been the official caterer for successful events across Singapore, including the Singapore Formula One Grand Prix, Singapore Airshow, Singapore Fintech Festival and the International Monetary Fund Convention.

At BioPak, we worked with BellyGood and six vendors across the Singapore Grand Prix (including Paul Singapore, Quix, Sens Dining and Senshi) to fuel the race with environmentally conscious choices.

The BellyGood mission is to bring joyful dining experiences, through both delicious food and services, to any and every occasion.

Sustainable Packaging Swaps

Working alongside the team at BioPak, BellyGood switched their traditional plastic packaging to BioPak’s packaging made from rapidly renewable, plant-based resources.

Let’s take a closer look at their sustainable swaps…

Swapping Cornware to Wooden Cutlery Pack

BellyGood swapped from a cornware cutlery set packaged in traditional plastic to BioPak’s wooden cutlery set, including a Napkin and 16cm Spoon and Fork. BioPak’s wooden cutlery is made from 100% sustainably sourced FSC™ birchwood and is suitable to be home composted (AS5810). A Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification ensures wood is sourced from responsibly managed forests.

Swapping Plastic Bento Boxes to Plant Fibre Alternatives

In the past, BellyGood served their meals in 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-compartment bento sets made from fossil fuel-based plastic. They switched to BioPak’s Plant Fibre Multi-Compartment Takeaway Solutions. Plant Fibre is a fibrous substance that remains after the sugarcane plant is harvested for its juice (that would otherwise be burned). It’s an extremely strong, versatile, and affordable solution.

Swapping Plastic Bento Box Lids to Plant Fibre Lids

Just like the Multi-Compartment Takeaway Bases, BellyGood now uses BioPak’s Multi-Compartment Lids made from plastic-free sugarcane pulp, with no intentionally added PFAS. The 750ml & 1,000ml White Plant Fibre Takeaway Lid is suitable for 2-Compartment Bases. The 3-Compartment Large Natural Plant Fibre Takeaway Lid is suitable for 3-, 4-, and 5-compartment containers. The perfect pairing for plant fibre trays.

Transitioning from Plastic Bowls to PLA Bowls

BellyGood swapped to BioPak’s Clear PLA bowls, which are made from Ingeo™ – a bioplastic made from plants, not oil. They’re certified industrially compostable to Australian and European standards (AS4736 and EN13432).

Can you share your experiences with BioPak and any advantages you’ve noticed compared to other options?

We’ve been using BioPak packaging for a while, and it’s been a great choice. They are just as durable and efficient as plastic, so there’s no compromise in functionality. What truly sets BioPak apart is the sustainability aspects, and we’ve made a significant shift toward environmental responsibility, all while maintaining the packaging quality for our customers.

What inspired you to choose our sustainable packaging over plastic?

Due to our commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility, we’re continually exploring ways to reduce our carbon footprint. Furthermore, we’ve noticed that many customers are becoming more environmentally conscious. Therefore, by choosing sustainable packaging, we’re aligning with their eco-friendly values and sharing a common vision for sustainability.

What specific features of our sustainable packaging do you find most appealing and unique?

One standout feature of BioPak is its compostability, which is not only unique but also incredibly eco-friendly. Furthermore, BioPak’s packaging is aesthetically pleasing and sturdy. We’ve been using it to package our bento, which requires different compartments and sections for various food items. This helps keep our dishes neatly organised and presentable.

Could you share a specific example where our packaging made a significant difference for you or your business?

BellyGood caters to a wide range of events, including large-scale ones like the Fintech Festival and Formula 1, where we serve thousands of attendees each day. The use of eco-friendly packaging has proven invaluable. Just imagine the environmental impact if we were producing 5,000 plastic food packaging units every day for these events. By choosing sustainable packaging, we not only reduce this environmental burden but also send a powerful message about our commitment to sustainability to thousands of event-goers.

Your Business Can Make Sustainable Swaps, Too

BellyGood is an example of how a few simple packaging swaps can make a big difference – both to the environment and your brand image.

So, is 2025 the year your business makes sustainable swaps? Start by looking inside your takeaway packaging bag. From cutlery to containers to cold cups, you might be surprised at how functional, versatile and affordable sustainable alternatives are.
