Coffee on Cue’s story began in 2013 in Melbourne with a single coffee cart and a clear mission: to bring the same cafe-quality coffee we all love into the events landscape. They provided coffee carts for corporate events, activations, conferences, and trade shows, setting a new standard for coffee at these gatherings.

A Shift Towards Sustainable and ‘Waste-Free’ Events

Coffee on Cue has always placed a strong emphasis on quality, offering barista-crafted beverages that rival Melbourne's renowned specialty coffee culture. As the industry evolved, so too did the expectations of clients and their guests. Over the past five years, a notable shift has occurred toward events that prioritise waste minimisation and circular economy solutions.

Coffee on Cue embraced this movement, aligning its operations and partnerships with a growing focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives. By championing products like BioPak's certified industrially compostable BioCups and Lids (certified to AS4736 Australian and EN13432 European Standards), the company has strengthened its position as a preferred responsible service provider.

Partnerships That Support ESG Goals

At Coffee on Cue, sustainability is woven into every aspect of their business. Many of their corporate clients have adopted ambitious ESG (environmental, social, and governance) or CSR (corporate social responsibility) frameworks, striving to reduce their environmental impact. Coffee on Cue proudly supports these efforts by providing sustainable coffee solutions that benefit both people and the planet.

Their approach to sustainability is holistic, starting with responsibly sourced coffee beans and extending to sustainable packaging, waste reduction initiatives, and community impact. Coffee on Cue’s 3R’s Approach to Coffee Sustainability: Responsible Sourcing, Roasting With Care, and Recycling Waste ensures every step of the coffee journey contributes to a better future.

  • Responsible Sourcing: Every coffee bean is meticulously traced to its origin, ensuring ethical and transparent sourcing practices. This commitment to traceability supports fair trade and sustainable farming, ensuring that every cup of coffee has a positive impact.
  • Roasting With Care: Coffee on Cue uses state-of-the-art energy-efficient roasting methods, minimising their carbon footprint while pursuing the perfect roast. Their process ensures that sustainability and quality go hand in hand.
  • Recycling Waste: Waste coffee grounds are transported to energy rejuvenation facilities, where they are transformed into green energy. This initiative closes the loop on organic waste, turning every coffee moment into an opportunity to create renewable energy.

Sustainable Swaps: The Compostable Cup Story

Coffee on Cue has long served its hot brews in BioCups, but one of their most impactful recent transitions has been shifting from plastic cold coffee cups, lids, and straws to BioPak’s compostable Clear BioCups, Lids, and BioStraws. This move further aligns with their commitment to sustainability and waste reduction.

Swapping Cold Coffee Plastic Cups to Clear BioCups

The choice to use Clear BioCups for their cold drinks has been a game-changer for Coffee on Cue’s events. These cups are a better alternative to conventional plastic cups. Our Clear BioCups are made from PLA bioplastic and are certified industrially compostable to Australian AS4736 and European EN13432 Standards.
