Certified Food Safe

Did you know that most pizza boxes and many types of food packaging are not certified to food safety standards? It’s unsettling to think of all the packaging our food comes in that has not been certified safe to use for food. To help you as a customer and a consumer, we’ve listed the types of food safety certifications to look for when buying food packaging.

What Are Food Safety Certifications

Food safety certifications are an essential aspect of the food industry, designed to ensure that the food products being consumed by consumers are free from harmful contaminants and meet strict quality standards. These certifications are granted by third-party organizations, such as ISO , BRC and HACCP, to companies and facilities that have demonstrated their commitment to following best practices for food safety and handling. By obtaining a food safety certification, companies can assure customers that they are taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety and quality of their food products, building trust and confidence in their brand.

ISO

 ISO

The ISO (International Organization for Standardization) food certification is a globally recognized standard for food safety management systems. The ISO 22000 standard specifically addresses food safety and sets out the requirements for a food safety management system, including the management of food safety hazards throughout the food chain. The ISO food certification process involves an independent assessment of a company's food safety management system, ensuring that it meets the requirements of the ISO 22000 standard. By obtaining an ISO food certification, companies can demonstrate their commitment to producing and supplying safe and high-quality food products, and they can gain a competitive advantage by showing their customers that they have a robust food safety management system in place.

BRC

The BRC (British Retail Consortium) food certification is a globally recognized food safety standard that is specifically designed for food manufacturers and suppliers. This certification is awarded to companies that have demonstrated a commitment to producing and supplying food products that are safe, legal, and of high quality. The BRC food certification process involves a comprehensive audit of a company's food safety and quality management systems, covering all aspects of food production, from raw material procurement to finished product delivery. By obtaining a BRC food certification, companies can show their customers that they are taking food safety seriously and are committed to producing and supplying high-quality food products that meet the highest standards.

HACCP

The HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) food certification is a globally recognized food safety management system that helps ensure the production of safe and healthy food. HACCP is a proactive approach to food safety that focuses on identifying and controlling potential hazards at each step of the food production process, from raw material procurement to finished product delivery. The HACCP certification process involves a comprehensive assessment of a company's food safety procedures, practices, and systems, and it is awarded to companies that demonstrate their commitment to following best practices for food safety. By obtaining a HACCP certification, companies can assure customers that they are taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety and quality of their food products, building trust and confidence in their brand.

Compostable & Recyclable

The best thing about our boxes is that they are compostable and recyclable. This means you have the choice of either putting them in your home compost bin – we like to cut them up into pieces to help them break down quicker, or, if your pizza box is not too contaminated with food residue, you can recycle your pizza box in the paper recycling stream.

Composting Pizza Boxes

A common question we are asked is can you compost pizza boxes? Yes, composting your pizza box is a better alternative for recycling your waste. The amount of food and grease residue that has been left behind does not matter when it comes to putting your pizza boxes in compost bins.

Composting pizza boxes in the UK is a sustainable and environmentally friendly method of disposal. By breaking down the organic matter in the boxes, composting helps to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills and reduces the emissions of greenhouse gases that are produced by decomposing waste in landfills.

Recycling Pizza Boxes

Recycling your pizza box is a possibility, however, this does depend on your area’s recycling rules, which means not all locations would deem the cardboard recyclable. When recycling your pizza box you must ensure that your box is dry and free from food/sauce, grease and oil otherwise it won’t be accepted for recycling due to food contamination. Paper and cardboard products are recycled into new paper and cardboard products, so you can imagine why pizza boxes covered in greasy cheese and other toppings wouldn’t be viable for recycling.

Customisable

BioPak pizza boxes offer a unique opportunity for pizzerias to showcase their brand and stand out from the competition. Customization options include adding your restaurant's logo, selecting a custom color scheme, or printing a special message or design on the box. By customizing your BioPak pizza boxes, you can create a memorable unboxing experience for your customers, reinforce your brand identity, and differentiate yourself from other pizzerias. Additionally, customizing your boxes also serves as a marketing tool, helping to spread the word about your restaurant and the quality of your pizza.
