The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), established in 2015, serve as a global blueprint to address pressing challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and environmental degradation. Consisting of 17 interconnected goals, they aim to achieve peace and prosperity for both people and the planet by 2030, recognising that progress in one area often drives positive change in others.
At BioPak, we integrate the SDGs into our operations as a guiding framework for sustainability. We focus on five key goals that are most aligned with our business pillars and where we can make the greatest impact. In addition, two supporting SDGs reflect our dedication to profit-for-purpose charity partnerships.

BioPak’s Five Pillars Toward a Circular Economy
These five pillars are the foundation of our vision – a world without waste. We’re disrupting the take, make, waste model and leading the way towards a truly circular economy.
- Use rapidly renewable, reclaimed, and plant-based raw materials
- Maintain a transparent and responsible supply chain
- Look beyond carbon offsets through our Emissions Reduction Plan
- Take responsibility for product disposal and end-of-life
- Protect the environment and give back to the community
The Five Core Goals Aligned with Our Business Pillars
These 5 pillars are the foundation of our mission - a world without waste. We're disrupting the take, make waste model and leading the way towards a circular economy

Use rapidly renewable, reclaimed, and plant-based raw materials

Adopt a transparent, responsible and ethical supply chain – always

Look beyond carbon offsets through our Emissions Reduction Plan

Take responsibility for product disposal and end-of-life

Protect the environment and give back to the community
Goal 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth

Economic growth should be a positive force for the whole planet. This is why we must ensure that financial progress creates decent and fulfilling jobs while not harming the environment. We must enforce labour rights and once and for all put a stop to modern slavery and child labour. If we promote job creation with expanded access to banking and financial services, we can make sure that everybody gets the benefits of entrepreneurship and innovation.
BioPak’s actions:
- Commitment to our B-Corp values around People, Planet and Profit.
- Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all our employees.
- Stringent processes and practices to ensure we source our products responsibly and work with value chain partners that are aligned with our values.
Goal 9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

A functioning and resilient infrastructure is the foundation of every successful community. To meet future challenges, our industries and infrastructure must be upgraded. For this, we need to promote innovative sustainable technologies and ensure equal and universal access to information and financial markets. This will bring prosperity, create jobs and ensure that we build stable and prosperous societies across the globe.
BioPak’s actions:
- Collaborate with our value chain to build production infrastructure that is more energy efficient, uses less material and is safer for workers.
- Innovate to create new materials and products with a lower carbon footprint and environmental impact.
Goal 12 Responsible Production and Consumption

Our planet has provided us with an abundance of natural resources. But we have not utilised them responsibly and currently consume far beyond what our planet can provide. We must learn how to use and produce in sustainable ways that will reverse the harm that we have inflicted on the planet.
BioPak’s actions:
- Innovate to create new materials and products with a lower carbon footprint and environmental impact.
- Stringent processes and practices to ensure we source our products responsibly and work with value chain partners that are aligned with our values.
- Educate our customers, business partners and end-users on packaging options that have the lowest impact on the planet.
- Promote product end-of-life options that are the most appropriate and circular.
Goal 13 Climate Action

Climate change is a real and undeniable threat to our entire civilisation. The effects are already visible and will be catastrophic unless we act now. Through education, innovation and adherence to our climate commitments, we can make the necessary changes to protect the planet. These changes also provide huge opportunities to modernise our infrastructure which will create new jobs and promote greater prosperity across the globe.
BioPak’s actions:
- Invest in our emission reduction plan to achieve our near-term and long-term scope 1, 2 and 3 targets.
- Educate our value chain and our customers on climate action and the required steps to help us meet our climate goals. Encourage them to set their own targets.
- Donate a portion of our profits to forest and biodiversity regeneration, and food rescue organisations.
Goal 15 Life on Land

A flourishing life on land is the foundation for our life on this planet. We are all part of the planet’s ecosystem and we have caused severe damage to it through deforestation, loss of natural habitats and land degradation. Promoting a sustainable use of our ecosystems and preserving biodiversity is not a cause. It is the key to our own survival.
BioPak’s actions:
- Donate a portion of our profits to forest and biodiversity regeneration.
- Advocate for composting more food waste and certified compostable packaging, to create a nutrient-rich new resource that will improve soil health.
- Promote a reduction of fossil fuel-based plastic in the food service industry and fight littering by educating our customers about appropriate end-of-life options.
Supporting Goals That Highlight Our Commitment to Profit-for-Purpose
Goal 2 Zero Hunger

Hunger is the leading cause of death in the world. Our planet has provided us with tremendous resources, but unequal access and inefficient handling leave millions of people malnourished. If we promote sustainable agriculture with modern technologies and fair distribution systems, we can sustain the whole world’s population and make sure that nobody will ever suffer from hunger again.
BioPak’s actions:
- We donate products and a portion of our profits to charities and food rescue organisations that provide nourishing meals to people in need. We collaborate with OzHarvest, KiwiHarvest, and Worcester Foodbank across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, collectively providing 560,465 meals.
Goal 3 Good Health and Well-Being

Over the last 15 years, the number of childhood deaths has been cut in half. This proves that it is possible to win the fight against almost every disease. Still, we are spending an astonishing amount of money and resources on treating illnesses that are surprisingly easy to prevent. The new goal for worldwide Good Health promotes healthy lifestyles, preventive measures and modern, efficient healthcare for everyone.
BioPak’s actions:
- Promote good health and well-being of our staff in our own operations.
- Work closely with our manufacturing partners to ensure workers are able to be safe and healthy.
- We donate a portion of our profits to MedEarth, a charity that champions environmental protection and humanitarian aid through a robust waste reduction program.
- They repurpose and redistribute medical supplies and equipment discarded by the healthcare industry, bridging the resource gap between developed and developing countries.
- 10% of the UK’s Christmas BioCup series sales are donated to Shelter UK, which provides free advice, support, and legal advocacy to individuals and families facing homelessness, eviction, or unsafe living conditions. In 2024, over 159,000 children were without a home across England.
