We have come a long way from our humble beginnings in 2006, where it all started with a dream of developing more sustainable alternatives to plastic packaging. It's been an amazing journey so far and we still have a long way to go on our mission to replace all plastic single-use foodservice disposables. BioPak growth
Thanks to our loyal and ever-expanding customer base, our sales of paper BioCups sold per month has increased from 1 million per month in 2009 to an impressive 20 million per month in 2015. Thanks to our passionate supporters for making the dream a reality. Small changes can make a big difference to the environment.
BioPak gives back 7.5% of profits to positive change
As a responsible business, we have an obligation to preserve and protect the environment and to give back to and support the communities in which we operate. We donate our time, energy and a percentage of our profits to environmental restoration initiatives and community programs that promote sustainability, economic development and self-sufficiency.
2.5% to carbon offsets
All BioPak products are certified carbon neutral. The carbon emissions associated with the production, transport and disposal of our products are calculated and offset through the purchase of carbon credits. Since 2010, BioPak customers have offset 44,669 tons of CO2 emissions. That's equivalent to saving 18,793,037 litres of fuel, driving 257,438,865km or removing 17,633 cars from the road.
1% to Rainforest Rescue
We donate 1% of all profits to Rainforest Rescue for the restoration and preservation of the rainforest. Since 2014 we have adopted 4,000 trees and purchased two hectares of rainforest in The Daintree National Park.
4% to charity events & organisations
We are inspired by the community work of so many of our hospitality customers, particularly those working with the homeless and disadvantaged. We are a key partner to STREAT who ‘stop homelessness the delicious way’ by training young homeless people to find their feet through employment in the hospitality industry. We support a number of projects from fantastic charities like Rosies ‘Cuppa’ program, OzHarvest, Food Bank and Christ Mission Possible. A percentage of sales of our Indigenous BioCups go directly to CorporateConnect.AB to support Indigenous communities. We also produce a BioCup Art Series to promote artists whose work reconnects consumers with the environment.
