HuskeeSwap: The Cup Exchange Program
HuskeeSwap is a cup-exchange program designed to make reusables convenient, easy and elegant – both for businesses and customers. Through the program, coffee lovers can exchange an Original HuskeeCup for a clean one in participating cafes.
How it works is simple:
- BUY: Customers purchase a HuskeeCup.
- DROP: Customers hand over a HuskeeCup when ordering.
- SWAP: Customers get their order in a freshly cleaned HuskeeCup.
If you’re interested in becoming a participating cafe, all you have to do is order your Original HuskeeCups, register as a HuskeeSwap location, and join the community of cafes leading the transition to a waste-free world.
Get To Know Reusables
When choosing between reusable or compostable cups, it's important to consider factors unique to your business, like costs, logistics and the behaviour of your customers.
Reusable products and single-use compostable packaging are both a part of the same solution: the transition to a circular economy. Certified compostable packaging plays a vital role in closing the loop on food waste – both packaging and organic waste can go in the same bin to be turned into nutrient-rich compost. On the other hand, Huskee reusables can be used again and again, reducing the demand on raw materials, and then recycled at the product's end-of-life through the HuskeeLoop program.
Cafes and consumers should opt for reusables whenever they can – however, when that's not an option, compostable packaging is the next best alternative. Many cafes and businesses still require single-use options to meet customer demands, making compostables an essential part of the solution alongside reusables.
HuskeeCup is made from 'eco-composite polymer' and coffee husk (which is the thin layer of flesh that surrounds the coffee seed or bean).
Why coffee husk? Every year, coffee producers are faced with tonnes of raw coffee husk waste – so Huskee gives this raw waste a new life. Coffee husk is paired with plastic polypropylene to increase its durability and design. The result is a beautiful cup that's designed to be washed and reused hundreds of times, then eventually recycled via the HuskeeLoop program.
HuskeeSteel is made from stainless steel, including 91% post-consumer recycled steel. It's sleek, durable and insulated.
HuskeeRenew is made with 'Tritan Renew 50', a high-performance food-grade plastic that's certified 50% post-consumer recycled material.
HuskeeCups can't be recycled in your kerbside system (no reusable cups can be!). Instead, HuskeeCups are recyclable via the HuskeeLoop program – an end-of-life product stewardship scheme where products are recycled and turned into new products (with no virgin material added). Just check out the Huskee DogBowl.
HuskeeCups are designed to be used again and again. But once your cup is reaching the end of its life, you can hand it in at your nearest HuskeeSwap site. You'll still get a fresh cup – and your old cup will be recycled and turned into a new product.
If the cup has heavy staining, marks of wear and tear, a bumpy surface, or it simply looks tired, it could be time for a replacement. Simply return it to your nearest HuskeeSwap site.

HuskeeLoop: Giving Well-Loved Cups a New Life
Even reusable cups reach the end of their life – eventually. The team at Huskee take responsibility for their products' end-of-life, offering a closed-loop system where coffee lovers can hand in their pre-loved cups for them to be recycled and turned into new products – like the Huskee DogBowl.
