Why We Support This Charity
Worcester Foodbank’s aim is to restore people’s hope of a happier and more sustainable future where they can stand on their own two feet again. Relying on volunteers to run the Foodbank itself, it’s a project founded by local churches and community groups, all working together towards stopping hunger in the local area.
About the Charity
Since 2012, Worcester Foodbank has been helping people in crisis. They believe that no one in the community should have to face going hungry. That’s why they provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
With three areas of Worcester living in the top 10% most deprived areas in the country, and with 17% of children estimated to live in poverty, Worcester Foodbank provides not only emergency food, but also a listening ear and signposting to further support.
In 2022/23, they provided meals to 14,701 people and saw a 29 per cent rise in demand compared to 2021/22. More than 1 in 3 people fed by them are children.
Our Impact
Supporting a local charity like Worcester Foodbank is important to us at BioPak. Tackling the crisis head on, Worcester Foodbank strives to feed and offer support to those that are in need. Since 2021, we have regularly donated, and will continue to donate to Worcester Foodbank. It is together with our customers that we’re able to support charities like these, and together that we will be able to bring about meaningful, positive change.
