Cafes and restaurants feed people when they feel like a treat or don’t feel like cooking. During the pandemic, takeaway food increased tenfold, which ultimately means more takeaway packaging was used than ever before. This can result in a lot of waste being sent to landfill – but it doesn’t have to with BioPak!

Blessed Bowls

Blessed bowls make acai bowls on a whole other level! Serving them in our PLA bioplastic BioBowls with wooden spoons, this cafe can significantly reduce the plastic they would have used to serve their signature dish.

Food Producers

Producing and packaging food for retail can be a tricky business. Many food producers opt for plastic produce trays to protect their fruit, vegetables or other goods during transport. Upon discovering the revolutionary material bagasse, BioPak was able to use this to design a better alternative for supermarkets.

Kapiris Bros

Australian tomato producers Kapiri Bros have a big goal to eliminate plastic use within their business by 2030. Plastic is used a lot by food producers to keep food fresh and to protect it during transportation. Kapiri Bros worked closely with BioPak to design two tomato punnets made from home compostable bagasse, saving 31.5 tonnes of plastic packaging over a 12-month period.

Woolworths

Australian supermarket giant Woolworths has an ambitious goal to transition all of their own brand ranges to recyclable, compostable or reusable packaging by 2023. As sustainable packaging experts, BioPak was able to identify items such as fruit, vegetables and bakery items that could easily be packaged in our sugarcane packaging and eliminated tonnes of plastic. Our sugarcane trays are now used in all Woolworths around the country.

Blue Harvest

Australian seafood sales and marketing agency Blue Harvest sell and market premium quality seafood products to major Australian seafood retailers and wholesalers. In an effort to reduce their plastic usage, they approached BioPak to help design the world’s first custom-moulded oyster tray made from sugarcane. Did you know these trays are not recyclable? Leftovers and plastic catering trays are usually destined for landfill, but they don’t have to be. Breweries

Beer cans are often packaged in plastic beer rings, known for ending up in waterways and causing severe harm to wildlife. Fortunately, other durable products exist to package your craft beer, like our sugarcane beer rings. Our beer can rings are made from rapidly renewable sugarcane pulp, known as ‘bagasse’, which is a by-product of the sugarcane refining process. This material is easily customisable and can be moulded into different shapes. Most importantly, it’s suitable for home composting and will naturally biodegrade in a home composting environment without leaving behind any toxic residue or harming wildlife.

Rocky Ridge Brewing Co

Rocky Ridge Brewing Co is an independent, family-owned business committed to brewing better beer while actively taking care of the planet. They switched to our 4-pack BioCane beer rings and have never looked back! Read more about how Rocky Ridge Brewing Co reduce its carbon footprint by switching to BioPak in our blog.

Of course, our beer rings made from reclaimed plant fibre were a natural choice for this brewing company which endeavours to protect the environment whilst making great beer. Read about how we worked together to find a solution for The Good Beer Co in our blog.

Stadiums

Sports, concerts and festivals are a huge part of cultures around the world. There is truly nothing better than gathering with friends and or family to cheer on your favourite sports team or sing along with your favourite band. Stadiums are a great place to gather and enjoy food and drink – however, they can create a lot of waste. Rather than create waste that cannot be recycled, Stadiums can choose to use BioPak packaging made from plants that can be composted.

Eden Park

While Eden Park is the largest New Zealand sports stadium serving many beers on game days. Eden park cleverly uses our sugarcane beer can rings to help their customers carry their beer, replacing the need for plastic carry trays. Around 13-17,000 attendees are expected at a standard Super rugby game and are estimated to use over 2,000 beer ring holders. So far this year, with events, they have used over 15,000 beer ring holders – that's over 60,000 cans that have been packed together with the ring holders. Recycling bins are provided across the stadium, and as our sugarcane beer rings are not typically contaminated with food, they are actually accepted in the recycling bins and beer cans.
